Last weekend was a brutal week for the NFL and for football gambling. Here’s hoping for a better performance for everyone in Week 6. With only one spread higher than a touchdown, though, the pickings could be slim this week.
SPREAD OF THE WEEK: Giants (+6) vs. SAN FRANCISCO. The 49ers will undoubtedly be fired up for this rematch of the NFC Championship Game, but the Giants did win that game, and the Super Bowl, and three other games this year. They sleepwalked through the first quarter against Cleveland, but weathered the storm and found their groove as the game went on. That’s the sign of a great team. New York might not beat the seemingly unstoppable 49ers, but they should keep it within a touchdown.
MONEY LINE OF THE WEEK: Indianapolis +160 vs. JETS(click here for an interesting article on the jets!!). Andrew Luck’s game-winning drive last weekend against Green Bay reflected the poise and ability of a quarterback with a dozen years of NFL experience. Luck and the Colts are a little vulnerable coming off a huge emotional win against an elite team, but Luck proved he belongs in this league. Besides, the Colts play the Jets, who are also due for an emotional letdown after their Monday night heartbreak. The Jets are headed for a lost season, while the Colts may yet do something in Luck’s rookie season.
OVER/UNDER OF THE WEEK: Detroit at PHILADELPHIA (Over 47.5). The offenses are good. The defenses are horrible. What could possibly go wrong? Only inclement weather could prevent a shootout, and since the forecast calls for perfect conditions on Sunday, expect a lot of points. Detroit has only missed one over this year, and though the Eagles haven’t lit it up the way you might expect them to, they’ve played very tough defenses in the early going. Look for both teams to feast upon their competition and ensure your football gambling this weekend is a winner.
